Adrian Holovaty
Creator of EveryBlock and Co-Creator of Django (Chicago)
Adrian Holovaty is a Web developer and journalist in Chicago who has made a number of diverse contributions to the Web.
He created chicagocrime.org, one of the original (pre-API) Google Maps mashups, and co-created the Django Web framework, used by thousands of developers around the world. His latest project is EveryBlock, a neighborhood news site offering daily updates at the street-address level. In August 2009, EveryBlock was acquired by MSNBC.com.
Combining backgrounds in journalism and computer science, Adrian has helped pioneer the discipline of “journalism via computer programming.” Before EveryBlock, he worked as a programmer/journalist at a number of American newspaper Web sites, including washingtonpost.com.
