Following on the great success of this theme at last year’s X|Media|Lab in Australia, we are taking it on the road to one of the world’s great centers of innovation in Digital Media – Seoul in Korea – to share, learn, and prosper together.
XML Seoul “Digital Worlds: Social, Virtual, Mobile” explores the shift from the primacy of “content providers” to the importance of “community creators”, in which the community members themselves are active providers and consumers of their own, and each others, content.
What is emerging now are self-creating and self-organizing communities and audiences who speak for and between themselves. This can take the form of social networking interaction and applications, online game play, virtual worlds, web video sharing, mobile and instant messaging and communities etc.
XML Seoul is the perfect place to explore these digital media innovations under three over-lapping and inter-connecting phenomena: social networks, virtual worlds, and mobile communities.
The Seoul Lab focuses on exploring how best to make sense and engage with these developments that are dramatically filling the time and interest that once, so recently, belonged solely to traditional media.
Seoul is the perfect place to share innovations and success stories in these inter-related digital worlds: with Korean contemporary culture (“Hallyu”) still riding a crest of popularity, and world leadership in online worlds (“Cyworld”), as well as mobile services and applications.
X|Media|Lab is bringing the best practitioners from all around the world to Seoul to present on the most successful, most instructive, and most interesting examples of developments in these new Digital Worlds.
