The event will be held at the Nanyang Technology University (NTU) fabulous new School of Art, Design, and Media (ADM)
The Lab consists of a one-day Keynote Conference Day with all of the International Mentors; and then the two-day closed door Lab where the International Mentors work privately and one-on-one with the selected participants, helping them to bring their digital media idea to completion.
The point of X|Media|Lab Singapore “Media Arts and R&D” is to:
- create new high-value networks among the world’s leading media arts practitioners and organizations;
- bring actual digital media project ideas from these institutions into the Lab, and enable participants to explore their ideas with some of the world’s leading digital media arts practitioners;
- explore joint project development between the institutions and participants, and expose them to the exciting and very well-resourced digital media arts developments taking place in Singapore.
Interactive Digital Media (IDM) is the focus of a large, co-ordinated government-backed investment and development strategy in Singapore. This is the perfect opportunity to make connections in Singapore, and explore partnerships; as well as meet top class Media Arts and R&D people from all over the world.
The ‘X’ in X|Media|Lab stands for “cross platforms”, “cross disciplines”, and “cross cultural”. The mix of people, places, and perspectives is deliberate and carefully constructed: you get the chance to participate in the hugely productive and spontaneously creative environment of the Lab, and to form your own high-value, long-term personal and professional networks with media Arts and R&D people from all around the world.
We invite you to nominate your Media Arts and R&D project idea for inclusion at this Lab. Participants will be accepted from all over the world.
A project team from last year’s Singapore Lab has already signed an international production and distribution agreement with Virgin Comics and Virgin Animation, who were an International Mentor at the 2007 Lab.
